Neighbors Psychological Services

Hello and welcome to Neighbors Psychological Services. My name is Dr. Daniel Neighbors. I am a licensed psychologist in Washington State. I received my PhD in Counseling Psychology from Washington State University and completed my Pre-doctoral internship at the University of Notre Dame. I have enjoyed work with children, adolescents, and adults.

I provide individual and group therapy during flexible hours Monday-Saturday. At this time I am providing telemental health services using the HIPAA compliant software Simple Practice. This form of treatment provides ease of access, especially for those who experience physical and/or transportation limitations. Telehealth services have also allowed me to continue providing for individuals in my direct community and across the state as a whole during times where people are quarantined and experiencing unique stressors/challenges.

I work from researched, empirically validated approaches. I primarily rely on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address problems in your life. My approach is helpful for a wide range of concerns because it focuses on helping you discover, consider, and address problematic thinking that is natural to all people; what you say to yourself about yourself, others, and the future defines your reality.

In your initial visit you and I will spend time learning more about you as a whole person. This process of better understanding your current symptoms, timelines of problems, situational triggers, helpful/unhelpful coping techniques, relational history, risk/injury related history, substance use, and many other details will increase diagnostic and treatment clarity as well as help me accurately provide contextual validation and compassion. We will work as a team throughout counseling, you as the expert of your past and present suffering and me as the tour guide walking you through a theoretical framework to better understand your suffering and equipping you with tools to move toward more intentional and meaningful living.

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS BY PHONE - NEW APPOINTMENTS WITHIN ONE WEEK: Beginning Counseling can be a vulnerable, intimidating process. It can also be one of the more fulfilling ventures in life. I love acting as your teammate in this process; you as the expert of your life and me as the expert of the therapy that guides us. If you are suffering from anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD (sexual or physical assault), problems adjusting, health concerns, men's issues, or would like to work on performance enhancement (athletic or academic), please contact me to find out more.

I have considerable experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, health concerns, adjustment, men's issues, and performance enhancement. I also loved working with top athletes in individual and group therapy at the University of Notre Dame. I would love to use my experience working with children, adolescents, and adults to help you or a loved one.

The hardest part about making change is taking the first step (e.g., exercising, eating differently, or starting therapy). I know how hard it can be and what courage it takes. I invite you to make that call today if you are ready. I would be happy to consult about what's bringing you in, what's important to you, and whether I will be a good fit.
